My interpretation of the Yuuzhan Vong, a warrior species that utilises organic technology in everything from their huge worldships to personal armour. Their philosophical beliefs are centred around self mutilation and sacrifice to appease their gods. This race features in the New Jedi Order of Star Wars books, and were the highlight of a series that was pretty ordinary in places in my opinion. I mean it killed off half of my favourite characters, which was bound to annoy me and the angst level was a little high.

I really wanted to focus on his sense of superiority, that his actions are compelled and guided by a higher force. Almost that he has attained a divinity in his mutilated form.

Ew gross.

I LOVE HIM. I've never read the book but this is awsome.

Good news for people who love bad news.
MUST... HAVE... YOUR TALENT!

The detail is absolutely FANTASTIC. O_O
It's not fair... I SHOULD BE THIS GOOD. I am ten times more creative than you or that guy over there who keeps stealing my ideas and giving them to George Lucas. DAMN IT. *snarls*

How did that back ground come out so arcaic looking? What sort of parchment are you using? Maybe it's just an effect of PS..? I adore the smearing. It makes this look so freaking smooth. And according to recent poles, smooth is good.

That's really awsome! I love this!
I'm not a Starwars follower but this is great!

Yeah I did go a little overboard with the details didn't I? ;P Don't you know Mr Lucas and Mr Gates have chips in our brains which steal every original idea we have? Dirty buggers, but this is my way of rebelling damn it! I'll draw that copyrighted character the way I want it! :D

The background is a mixture of techniques. I aged some paper by hand with tea, crumpling and general jumping up and down on. Then scanned it at high-res and isolated sections then smoothed with photoshop.
Beautiful work, as always ^^ it looks very traditional, i couldn't believe it when i saw it under digital
 I love him.

O.O You are the mastah of details, Core! And the manliness!

:3 And I reckon you got the expression just right. I may not be an expert ... =/ But I have eyes with which to see. ^__^ And my eyes say it's right!
NIce capture of the concept - really liked the series concept, though I'll agree with you that individual books and strands didn't live up to their potential - nice to know I'm not the only one digs these guys :)

Oh dear god, I seem to have grown up to be the person my mother always warned me about
Bleh. I can't find ANY books whatsoever with Anakin Solo and Ben Skywalker and stuff in them! Damn me being in New Zealand. We're isolated from the rest of the world. Literally. Anyhow, great stuff! *runs away and looks frantically around for a Starwars book*

*must.. find... starwars book...*
Wow. You sure take your work seriously. I salute you!

(Me? I'm more of an "Idea/Concept" kind of guy than an artist...)
